Magic, Media, Magnificent

Magic! The dancers move across the wall, hanging from their harnesses. They keep their bodies straight and their feet firm against the wall. They strain not to lose their graceful form and composure. They are a dark contrast to the stark white of their unconventional dance floor.

Media! My camera records the movement of the dancers. I see their focus, moments of anxiety, and their subtle stumbles. The black-and-white film emphasizes their shadows and the dark colors and shapes of their clothes. One dancer wears a heavily ruffled and square-necked dress.

Magnificent! Let's burn the roof and live it up. Round and round, up and down, and around the clock, dancers float across the wall. The other dancers and some technicians guide a dancer into a harness and help her balance. Look at her dancing. She is careful, but seems to want to return to them as quickly as possible. She concentrates and blocks out distractions, especially anyone who can change her mind.

  1. Hi Minji. I posted some grammar suggestions in the body of your text. Good revision, and good careful description...

Please go to the UCI Langson library and take out a book you like (with good pictures) about the artist Martha Rosler. You might like this artist. Please bring the book you choose to class on Tuesday, August 25th.
