See! The space is wide and empty. It is not crowded. It does not seem normal, but it feels free. There is a lot of space to allow me to spread my arms out like a bird. I gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night from New York. People slowly walk from building to building. Their movements are slow, but elegant.
Shadow! I can see my own shadows. I can see the shadows of other people on the walls as they walk by. It follows us closely. It looks distorted. However, these shadows are interesting. I can make art out of it. I can make them do whatever I want them to do.
Soar! I spread my arms out like I am flying. The air feels so light up here. As I walk from place to place, I can just close my eyes and spread my arms. I feel the wind breezing under my arms. I feel the wind against my clothes.
Snow! As I keep walking, I observe this place. The walls around me are white. From this high perspective, it seems as though snow landed on the ground and lightly dusted the wood-paneled buildings. My feet are bare. The ground seem too cold for my feet. I must stay up here.
Scared! With no shoes on, I have no grip. I am afraid that I will slip and fall to the ground. I could lose my balance. Running does not seem like a good idea. If I walk slowly and with my arms out, I can keep a good balance. Walking slower is safer.
Statue! I can see a head-like structure below. From up here, I cannot tell what it is. I am not sure what it is. It is too far away for me to know. It looks like a head to me. I may be wrong. Maybe it is not a head at all, but maybe it is. Maybe this is all just nonsense. I will just keep walking.

Very smooth, imaginative writing, Marian. Please compare my changes that follow with your writing and let me know what you think... Also, for homework, please go to the UCI Langson Library and take out a book (with lots of pictures) on the artist Tacita Dean. You might like this artist. Please bring the book you choose to class on Tuesday, August 25th.
