How did I come up with this? Well...

I feel that people need to take a look around themselves and get out of their little bubbles. They need to know more about what is going on in the world around them, to be more nosy and poke their heads into other people's business -- that is what inspired my piece. There are people out there who have no idea what is going on within their local neighborhoods and cities -- some are even clueless about their own country's economy, so how would they even know what is going on with other countries? I've put this together not only as a piece that would inform the viewer, but also as a portal for them to feel connected and to be a part of the world they live in.

MAYBE INCORPORATE A KOSUTH QUOTE... OR A TRISTAN TZARA QUOTE OR...

This piece includes.... I chose.... About the articles... I specifically organized the articles in a salon-style kind of arrangement -- you know, like the way your grandparents would frame the family tree of portraits in their living room. I'd like to think that a salon-style display of the articles would make the viewer feel more at home, as if the events they are reading about in these articles were a part of their lives. Instead of framing them, I just used cement glue to paste them directly onto the wall -- no attachments! The only attachment that exists lies between the viewer and my piece... When I first looked at the arrangement of articles, I felt the sudden enlightenment I feel when learning about new things, especially when reading about choice happenings. Even though I just chose random events, these events where those that were featured as the main stories of the day, in your daily newspaper, and I would take them from various newspapers and from various days.

For Example: ... AFGAN VOTE TURNOUT LOWER THAN EXPECTED... WOMAN SUES OVER MONKEY IN CAR...

And come on -- the concept is simple. It's almost like a copy-and-paste-project-gone-adult -- you just take articles that you are particularly interested in, cut them out, and paste them onto the surface that you'd like to display them on. If you wanted to document it, just take any working camera and document it like you would document any other art event.
